The highly anticipated Bay Scallop Season in Pasco County is set to kick off on July 10, extending through August 18, 2024. This year’s season promises 40 days of scallop hunting, a significant increase from previous years. Florida’s Sports Coast, the official Tourism Office for Pasco County, is encouraging both locals and visitors to participate in this exciting experience.

Pasco County provides a variety of experienced local guides and charter companies to help participants make the most of scalloping season. These services ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both seasoned scallopers and newcomers alike.
Safety is a top priority during scalloping season. Participants should be aware of the following regulations and safety measures:
Collection Method: Scallops can be collected by hand or with a dip net.
Daily Bag Limit: 2 gallons of whole bay scallops in shell or 1 pint shucked per person.
Daily Boat Limit: 10 gallons in shell or 1/2-gallon shucked meat.
Safety Requirement: Always display a diver-down flag while in the water to alert other boaters of your presence and ensure safe diving practices.
In response to concerns about crowded waterways, this year's season schedule excludes July 4th. Additionally, local boat captains are advocating for more boat docks to accommodate the increased traffic, with some expansion plans already underway.
